21st Century Wire's Podcast

21WIRE Associate Editor Vanessa Beeley speaks to host Patrick Henningsen about the current deteriorating situation in Yemen. Beeley gives a comprehensive breakdown and heart-felt analysis of the conflict during Episode #202 of the SUNDAY WIRE radio show. What’s become clear now after 2 and half years of an undeclared war of aggression on neighbouring Yemen, is that Saudi Arabia and its allies – particularly the US and UK – are now guilty of international war crimes for their illegal and sordid roles in targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, and generating mass suffering and death in the country.

On September 17, 2016, the US-led Coalition launched a brutal sneak attack with slaughtered some 80 plus Syrian soldiers on the ground near the city of Deir Ezzor, Syria. In one of the biggest diplomatic failures of all-time, a cowardly US US Secretary of State John Kerry gave no explain as to the senseless slaughter by US and Australian aircraft. As it turns out, the US strike helped ISIS advance against the Syrian Army and hold territory for the next 12 months, until the terrorist cohort was finally dislodged by Syria and Russia last week. "Straight after the coalition's strikes, IS militants launched an offensive," said the statement, adding that "fierce fighting against the terrorists" ensued nearby.

"If these strikes were due to an error in the target coordinates, that would be a direct consequence of the US refusal to coordinate with Russia its fight against the terrorist groups in Syria," said the Russian military at the time.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is off his mind. This time, in full crisis mode over Iran's influence in Syria...

According to eyewitness accounts, "Bibi" was too emotional, almost to the point of panic, describing an apocalyptic scenario with Iran as he interrupted Russian President Vladimir Putin's summer holiday in Sochi.

It was originally reported in the Jerusalem Post that Netanyahu threatened to bomb the Presidential Palace in Damascus and disrupt the Astana process if Iran continues to “extend its reach in Syria."

Listen as SUNDAY WIRE host Patrick Henningsen paints this colorful picture:

'Imagine Bibi interrupting Vlad's lunch, as he tucks into a pierogi wearing his best tracksuit. Bibi speaks, and Putin's response is simply......Nyet.'

Israel has zero political leverage here. Netanyahu is acting out. His whole power base and legitimacy is based on Israel being under a constant threat. In this case, by Iran. A major sea change in the region for sure.
